McClellan and Dylan had a March wedding at Camp Beckwith, and we loved working with them! McClellan lives in Colorado, so we only got to meet with her in person once, but we loved getting to bring her southern wedding to life. She wore the most beautiful flower crown and the couple vowed to forever overlooking the most beautiful view of Weeks Bay. They celebrated with friends and family afterwards, and then left their reception in a boat! Check out more about McClellan and Dylan and a few of our favorite pictures from their day below. Cheers to the McRoberts!
Tell us your story.
Dylan and I met in 2010 in the Mississippi Delta through the Teach for America program. We were both assigned to be high school math teachers. He was cute, but we were both preoccupied with our new jobs and were seeing other people. In 2014, we reconnected at a mutual friend’s wedding and almost immediately began dating. I moved to Colorado, where Dylan is from, and the rest is history!
What was your favorite part of the planning process?
Once I sent Jenna my vision for the wedding day, she sent a vision board that was almost exactly what I was thinking! I was shocked and fell in love with her ideas immediately. It was really cool to work with someone that could turn the rambling email that I sent into something so spot on. I also live in Colorado, so we only met in person once. Her communication and organization were excellent and we were able to accomplish all of the planning long distance with no hiccups!
What was your favorite moment of the day?
There are so many of them! I thought the ceremony was a perfect mix of traditional church procedures and our laid back and outdoorsy style. I loved the canoe entrance--the groomsmen carried me in a canoe into the venue. I wore a life jacket and it was absurdly fun! The band was super fun (they are called Second Groove Showband--check them out!) and made for a wild reception that ended in a sparkler send-off and boat ride back to my parents’ house. The after party was a blast because we created song books for people to sing along to our favorite songs, like a group karaoke event!
If you could give advice to another bride in the process of planning her wedding what would it be?
Relax! This is such a special time of life and although it can be stressful and hectic, it is a beautiful experience to plan. No one will notice the little things that go differently than you planned, so focus on the big picture and don’t sweat the small stuff.
